Mental Health First Aid Training (In-house)
What is Mental Health First Aid?
Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training is designed to teach people how to spot the signs and symptoms of mental ill health and provide help on a first aid basis. In a similar way to physical First Aid, MHFA helps attendees recognise these signs, to start a great conversation and to have the confidence to signpost to the appropriate professional support and options of self-care. These courses are delivered in-house via Zoom, at your offices, or at a location of your choice.
We all have Mental Health. Mental Health is about our emotional wellbeing and how we think, feel and behave. More than ever, having the tools to help ourselves and others has never been more important.
By appointing and training some colleagues in Mental Health First Aid, this will help to provide a greater network of emotional support for colleagues in the workplace.
Upon completion of this training, a Mental Health First Aider will be able to support others by:
-
Being the main point of contact for anyone experiencing a Mental Health issue
-
Identifying early signs and symptoms of mental ill-health
-
Starting supportive conversations with someone experiencing a Mental Health problem
-
Listening in a non-judgemental manner and providing reassurance
-
Assessing the risk of self-harm and suicide
-
Signposting and encouraging appropriate professional support
-
Reducing the stigma attached to Mental Health and promoting awareness
-
Summoning for the appropriate emergency services if necessary
-
Maintaining confidentiality and providing an ongoing supportive working environment
